Max feeds on his parents and goes to school and starts a strain of virus, infecting his friends who then feed on various teachers, and when the police arrive, lie and blame a masked figure for the deaths. Elizabeth and Holden meet Alex, and he notices she has been turned. Alex starts working as the children's new governess, and would do so long as she follows the rules.
